Fridge freezing food in Nashville – repair suggestions?

My refrigerator suddenly started freezing everything in the main compartment – veggies, drinks, even yogurt turning into ice blocks. The freezer seems fine, no weird noises or leaks. It's a GE model from around 2016. Living in Nashville, I'd prefer not to replace it if it's something like a defrost timer, damper control, or thermostat gone bad. Anyone had this fixed by a local appliance guy recently? What was the cost range and did the repair hold up?

I had the exact freezing-in-fridge issue pop up last winter – everything in the fresh food section was iced over. After some research, I called NashFix. The tech came out within a day or two, diagnosed it as a stuck damper door and faulty defrost thermostat. Replaced both, cleared any buildup, and it's been perfect since (no more frozen lettuce). Total bill was about $270-300 including parts and service call. Their refrigerator repair page lists some similar fixes if you want to read up https://nashfix.us/refrigerator-repair/ . Straightforward job, no push to buy a new unit. Decent option if you're tired of tossing ruined food. Hope you get it sorted soon!
