Is It Worth Buying an Apartment in Spain Just for Holiday Rentals?

I’ve been thinking about buying a small apartment somewhere along the Spanish coast — maybe in Alicante or Málaga — mainly to rent it out to tourists. I visit Spain once or twice a year anyway, so I thought it could pay for itself over time. But I’m not sure if short-term rentals are still as profitable as they used to be, especially with all the new rules and taxes. Has anyone here actually done it and seen decent returns?

I bought a place in Torrevieja a couple of years ago and rent it out when I’m not there. It definitely helps cover expenses, but the trick is finding the right location and management company. Coastal cities with good transport and beaches always attract tenants. Before buying, I checked listings and guides on Property for sale in Spain — it gave me a clear idea of which areas had the best demand for short stays. If you treat it as a long-term investment rather than a quick profit, it’s worth it.
